Looking after 5 children when you don't have much money doesn't leave you with a lot of time to yourself. Now that they are all married and moved away, I find that I have too much of it.

I was always a very active and social person but 6 years ago I had an operation that left me with breathing problems and I have collapsed twice since then. With my family and friends gone, it was not unusual for whole days to pass without me having anyone to talk to.

Thanks to you I found a place to come where I can meet other older women like me. We get together to have lunch and take part in all sorts of social and exercise activities. If I wasn't here making new friends I'd just be alone at home. This project, supported by money you raised last Red Nose Day, is truly one of the best things to have ever happened to me. If it wasn't for your help I wouldn't have met these lovely ladies.

They are like my family now.
