I was sexually abused by my father when I was a child. Eventually he went to prison but the nightmares didn't end. When I was 17, I met Phil. I thought he would protect me and love me but instead, after the birth of our first child, he started to get very controlling, He would lock us in the house with no food and it wasn't long before he got violent.

After finding the courage to leave, I met a new man who offered me a way out. He invited me to start a new life with him and I thought all my prayers had been answered - a fairytale ending to a terrible nightmare. But like all the men in my life, my new partner also turned violent.

When he turned on my daughter I knew enough was enough. I got the help I so desperately needed from a project that uses your money to help women like me. My children are also getting support to cope with the trauma caused by what they have witnessed and I'm helping other women in violent relationships to turn their lives around.
