Have You Heard The One About...
If you’re planning on cracking a few jokes for Red Nose Day, you could do worse than dust off a few old favourites. It seems some classic jokes have been around a lot longer than we might think. Indeed, an ancestor of Monty Python’s famous Dead Parrot sketch has been found in a joke book dating back to 4th Century Greece. ‘Philogelos: The Laugh Addict’ has been translated from Greek manuscripts and many of the jokes are still performed today. So, next time someone groans at one of your golden oldies, tell them how old it really is!
Bob here is another of our keen young fundraisers. When he’s not dressing up as a robot, Bob loves playing football and says his favourite comedian is Bart Simpson. He’s just returned from celebrating his 10th Birthday in New York, where his Dad was running the NY Marathon. Bob’s obviously a chip off the old block because he’s taking on a marathon task himself to raise money for Red Nose Day. He’s getting sponsored to swim thirty lengths. Nice work, Bob and Happy Birthday!
It may only be a few days since Barack Obama won the US Presidential election, but he’s not wasting any time getting down to the important issues of the day. He’s already been spotted on the BBC website, sporting a Red Nose. Now that gets our vote - the President Elect setting a shining example. We’re now hoping that other world leaders will follow suit and don their Red Noses too.
