Mum! Mum! Can I lick the bowl? No dear, just flush it like everyone else. Toilet humour abounded last week thanks to World Toilet Day, a celebration that dates back to 1792, when the first regularly flushing toilet was patented. We also discovered that the average person uses the loo 2,500 times a year and spends three years on the toilet during their lifetime. As well as being a bit of fun, The World Toilet Organisation hopes the day highlights the more serious concern that 2.6 billion people worldwide still don’t have access to adequate sanitation.
