David was left heartbroken after his wife of 20 years passed away. Feeling alone and vulnerable, his step-daughter took him in and offered to look after his finances. David trusted her, only to find out months later that the very person who promised to look after him had swindled him out of £35,000. For months, she cruelly betrayed his trust and systematically stole everything he had worked so hard to save, leaving him penniless.
Elder abuse by his own step-daughter left David feeling devastated and completely alone. He also found himself facing financial difficulties and was not able to pay for his medical care. David turned to Age Concern Coventry - which is funded by Comic Relief. They took up his case and investigated it on his behalf. Thanks to their tenacity his step-daughter was charged and jailed for 15 months.

£10 could pay for three nutritious meals at a lunch club where lonely and isolated older people can meet and enjoy each other’s company.
