Your £34 changed his life.
"It was a sound that broke my heart. I got home and my kids were crying with hunger. They were getting sick with malnutrition and I had no food in the house and no money in my pockets.
"I felt like such a failure as a dad. I’d do anything for my kids but I just had no-one to turn to for help.
"My life changed when someone from a Comic Relief funded project found me and gave me a loan of 100,000 shillings (£34) to buy a big bag of onion and tomato seeds. Along with some hard work, they were all I needed to lift my family out of poverty. We ate some of the vegetables we grew and I sold the rest to buy more seeds. Four years later I have paid the loan back and I run a successful business so I can support my family.
"Now I grow and sell coffee, garlic, paw paw, bananas, vanilla and avocado too. The money I make feeds my kids and has put them back into school. It’s also enabled me to build them a proper house.
"At last I feel like the father I always wanted to be."
