The Challenge:

It was simple. We asked you to find the most effective way/s of spreading the Big Red Nose Day message through the digital world. What do we think is effective? Well, the aim of Red Nose Day is to get the whole of the UK involved in doing something fantastic to make the world a better place. So, we were looking to see how you could drive traffic to parts of www.rednoseday.com. How you would use the power of digital to get the UK public fired up (including all those bods in your office, of course!), engaged with the campaign and caring about what we do?

Whether it was reskinning a game that's been a runaway success; placing banners, buttons or widgets across your site; turning your site red for the day, the week, the whole campaign; exploiting the channels of communication that you use on a day to day basis, like email signatures and newsletters; creating connections within your own social networks; creatively playing with search terms... There were no end of ways to cook up a brilliant plan internally or externally. We knew you were creatives who love a challenge like this and we were right!

What you need to do:

We can't wait to be dazzled by your creative ideas! To get your name in the lights, all you need to do is follow 4 simple steps:

  1. Cook up a Big Red idea
  2. Tell us about it
  3. We will then get in touch with you to let you know whether to go ahead.
  4. Once you've got the green light from us, get going!

What we will do to help:

We will work with you to track your activity (remember to include any relevant information about this in your entry form). We can also provide you with banners, buttons or widgets to add to your site or community. And we can work with you if you want to create a case study of the activity you submit.

Timeline

The main period of activity for Red Nose Day is March 5th to 16th but if you think it's more effective to focus on the day itself, Friday 16th March, that's also fine.

Deadline

All ideas must be submitted by 5pm, Monday 12 March 2007 to enable us to track the outcome of your creativity.

The Prize: The Prize

The winner will be judged by its effect on the Red Nose Day campaign. When we're deciding on the winner, we will look at:

  • the levels of traffic that were driven to www.rednoseday.com

  • what level of engagement was achieved through the activity

  • how far the Red was spread

The winner will be showcased at the NMA Effectiveness Awards and will be presented with a glowing award as proof that you (yourself, or your team, or whole business) really 'Spread the most Red.' The most outstanding ideas will also be displayed on www.rednoseday.com.

The Small Print
  • Full terms and conditions are available here

  • There is no payment for any entries, and you must not seek to make any profit out of the ideas that you put forward. The aim of the challenge is to promote Red Nose Day, not to make money.

  • Remember that while Red Nose Day is all about comedy and fun, it is also a 'family show,' so your ideas must not involve anything unlawful or likely to offend, including any violent, racist, pornographic, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate material. You are responsible for ensuring you have all the rights you need to carry out your idea and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

  • Please do not send us anything confidential - we are presented with hundreds of ideas every year and we cannot sign confidentiality agreements or promise that a similar idea has not already been received or developed.
