Tips for Kids
What to remember when making stuff.
Here are the things you need to remember when taking photos, making videos, recording sound or writing text:
- Make sure there’s nothing in what you make which shows where you live or hang out – e.g. signposts, school uniforms or house numbers.
- Don’t include any contact information – e.g. your or your friend’s full name, home address, school name or address, email or phone numbers.
- Remember you’ll need to get permission from everyone who features in what you’ve made. You’ll need to make sure they are happy for you to upload and publish their voice and image.
- You’ll need to give Comic Relief the contact details of a guardian, parent or teacher. Please remember to ask them first before you upload your cool stuff.
- What you upload must not include any swearing, bullying or include anything offensive or unlawful.
- You can only upload certain file sizes and formats. Images must be less than 3 mg and formatted as jpeg files. Videos must be either, mov, mpeg or vmv files and less than 100 mg in size. Audio or sound must be uploaded as wav or mp3 files and must be less than 10 mg in size.
- If you upload any video, music, sound, photos, art work or other images made by anyone else make sure you have their permission to use them.
Top Tip: Why not take photos or make a film of animals, activities and things which make you happy!
What happens when you upload stuff.
- Everything you upload will be seen by the Comic Relief team to check it’s safe to be published online.
- In some cases we may also contact your guardian/parent or teacher to check they are happy for us to publish what you’ve made.
- Once Comic Relief is satisfied that what you’ve made is appropriate and we or you has given permissions for it to be published, we’ll send you an email to tell you it’s on the site.
- Remember that by uploading you are agreeing that Comic Relief can use your contribution in all media without and payment or limits on how long or where it can be used.
