Five-month-old Joffrey is in the High Dependency Unit of a hospital in Eastern Uganda, desperately ill with a preventable illness: pneumonia. The hospital doesn’t have enough oxygen and there are too many children who need it, so Joffrey is sharing the supply with several other babies – all of whom also have pneumonia.
Pneumonia is a preventable illness, but Joffrey was not given the vaccine which could have protected him. Sadly, five month old Joffrey passed away from pneumonia. In Africa, around £5 could fully vaccinate a child against five deadly childhood diseases.
