Emeli Sande meets 14-month-old Yeku, who has been brought into hospital with severe malaria, and 8-year-old Agnes who has anaemia, caused by malaria. Neither child sleeps under a mosquito net because their families can't afford them.
Just £10 could buy four insecticide-treated mosquito nets to protect children in Africa from contracting deadly Malaria while they sleep.
About the project
Malaria is almost entirely preventable and treatable and yet is the leading killer of children under the age of five in sub-Saharan Africa. Supported by Comic Relief, The Global Fund fights malaria by supplying anti-malaria commodities, specifically long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets, and pays for testing and treating cases for pregnant women, newborns and children.
After filming this video, both Yeku and Agnes made a full recovery and were discharged. Both families were given nets to prevent contracting the illness again.
