Rowland Goes In Fame Academy Opener

5 March 2007

Rowland Rivron was the first celebrity contestant to be voted out of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy on Saturday night.

The nervous tension was there for all to see as Birds of a Feather star Linda Robson drew the short straw and was the first to sing.

After the rest of the line up had braved the circle of fear too the results of the public vote came in leaving Angellica Bell, Rowland Rivron and Miranda Hart in the bottom three.

Angellica, who has given up her honeymoon to appear on the show, was the first student to be saved by the judges and Miranda Hart was saved by her fellow pupils.

Rowland Rivron, "TV presenter and poultry owner" was expelled after singing a rendition of Dolly Parton's 'Stand By Your Man', meaning that he won’t even make it through the Academy doors.

Rivron joked, 'A couple of weeks ago, this seemed like a good idea. It’s a shame I didn't get into the Academy as it was clear that, at the age of 32, a singing career is just round the corner.’

The next installment of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy is on Wednesday, 7th March at 7pm on BBC ONE – don’t miss it!
