Mel leaves after tense night in the Academy

Mel Giedroyc became the sixth student to leave the Fame Academy last night as the tension boiled over in the circle of fear.

After a savaging from the judges for her swing number, Angelica was reduced to tears, while Carrie and David had a slanging match with Headmaster Richard Park.

Once the dust had settled Mel, Sean and Colin found themselves in the bottom three with the former Eastenders star being saved by the judges.

An emotional and very close student vote saw Colin given the nod by his fellow students and Mel, who had described her outfit as a cross between Margaret Thatcher and Dorris Day, had sung her last song.
