Latest news
London town is going all-out for The Big One! The pinnacle of activities is the London Eye - which will be getting a big Red Nose Day
make-over from January 31.
Meanwhile a group of kids from a school in Harpenden will be visiting the Kicoshep Project in Nairobi, Kenya. They will be learning about
what life is like for their peers in Africa and will be making some films about how education can transform young people's lives. The Kicoshep
Project works in the slums of Nairobi, providing HIV/AIDS healthcare services to the local people who live in desperate poverty.
Get Involved
London is awash with fundraising plans. Bowes primary school in North London will be staging the 'I'm a teacher-get me out of here!'
fund raising event, complete with nasty tasks, set by the kids!
And our accountants, Ernst & Young, who make collecting all our money possible, are holding lots of staff fundraising events - including
their own version of Fame Academy and 'The Big Drop' abseil challenge in their multi-storey office lobby!
Big Difference
Since the first Red Nose Day back in 1985, Comic Relief has spent over £34.5 million on over 1,800 projects in London.
Teenagers and young women who have survived sexual assault, domestic violence and extreme bullying can find it hard to find an outlet for their
feelings of agony. Unfortunately, some resort to self-harming as the only way to make their pain visible. Your money has helped the Wish
Centre in Harrow to offer them safer ways of dealing with their trauma. The project offers workshops and counselling which help rebuild the girls' self
esteem and make them see they are not to blame.
