Rallyoke hits Liverpool
Chris Moyles and the Radio 1 breakfast team brought Karaoke to Liverpool on Sunday 11th March, along with a host of special guests. Gemma Atkinson, Nikki Sanderson and Roxanne Pallett all took to the stage to entertain the crowds and there was even a special guest performance from Chris’ Dad! Taking their obsession with karaoke to a new scale, the infamous Breakfast team will spend a week touring the UK hosting rowdy karaoke nights to packed out venues filled with lucky Radio 1 winners. Gemma Atkinson visits Homeless Project
Soap Actress Gemma Atkinson took a break from filming yesterday and swapped Hollyoaks in the City for Halton YMCA to see first hand how money raised by Red Nose Day is spent in the region. Halton YMCA, aims to provide safe and secure accommodation for homeless young people and to educate and train them in the skills required to move into independent living. After visiting the project Gemma said "This project is really helping to change people‘s lives. Halton YMCA is doing such a fantastic job providing not only a roof over young people’s heads, but also an environment they can feel safe in".
Manchester Buildings Turning Red
On the 8th March, Urbis, one of the most recognisable buildings in Manchester will turn RED as the campaign for Red Nose Day gathers momentum in the North West. Urbis along with the Town Hall clock and Central Library are all taking part in the mass illumination until Red Nose Day on 16 March. All three buildings are keen to show their support for The Big One campaign and look forward to lighting Manchester Red for this year’s Red Nose Day! Vaughan Allen, Urbis Chief Executive said 'Urbis is an exhibition centre of city life. We welcome this opportunity to support Comic Relief and contribute towards improving peoples lives in areas of poverty in both the UK and internationally'.

On Saturday 10th March, Presto Music School in Warrington held a massive musical event, hoping to raise £2500 for Comic Relief. All Saturday students from the age of five through to adults played music specially selected for the occasion. At any one time there were 27 keyboard and piano players, 5 drummers, 15 guitarists, and a bassist. In total, due to the effort of all the students, an amazing 1,415,333 notes were played during the day – a new record for the most notes played by a music school in a performance in one day.Royle Family Special Screening
Royle Family fans across the North West have been voting for their favourite episode of all time from a selection chosen by the cast and crew of the show. The winning two episodes will be shown at a special screening at The Odeon, in The Printworks on 13 March 2007 – all in aid of Comic Relief. VIP’s and local celebrities will join comedy fans of this hit Manchester-based comedy from across the city at the exclusive event ahead of Red Nose Day.This one-off event will see The Royle Family’s best loved characters get the ‘Royal’ big screen treatment for the very first time. Big Difference
From the money raised over 10 Red Nose Day’s, Comic Relief has spent over £10.2 Million, on almost 500 projects in the North West. Projects such as 42nd Street, that helps young people with mental health problems in Manchester to cope with their illnesses; StreetLife Trust – providing services for young homeless people in Blackpool; and Early Break in Bury’s ‘Young Voices’ programme helping young people with Alcohol problems.
