Meet Chris: A Red Nose Day Super Fundraiser

Chris a super fundraiser

The Red Nose Day Super Fundraisers are a team of amazing past fundraisers who are inspiring others to follow in their footsteps, and helping to make Red Nose Day the biggest and best yet.

For the past two decades, Chris has organised lots of fundraising events for charity, but there’s one event in particular that impacts him on a different level. “Around the first Red Nose Day [in 1989] I was in Kenya and saw real poverty and suffering for the first time in my life. It has made me feel a real connection with Red Nose Day.”

It’s that kind of inspiration that has helped Chris become a Super Fundraiser, which brings us to his biggest Red Nose Day achievement so far: 2015’s 24-hour Tower Climb.

In preparation for the National Fire Service’s Three Peaks Challenge, Chris tried to persuade his team that climbing the station’s training tower for an hour each shift would be brilliant training. Enthusiasm was lacking so he turned it into a fundraising activity and the team couldn’t say no. Some hated it, some still have nightmares about it, but they did it and raised an impressive £2500!

Chris’s Fundraising Tip: “Make it inclusive! Try to do something that appeals to lots of people. The more people you get on board, the more potential fundraisers you have.”
