Naomi announcing the Comic Relief and MAC AIDS fund partnership

Comic Relief are excited to announce a new three-year partnership with the M∙A∙C AIDS Fund to tackle HIV and AIDS and raise awareness of its continuing impact.

Despite the number of new HIV cases declining globally each year, and more people than ever getting tested and accessing treatment, HIV and AIDS still present a major challenge. In 2015 there were still over 36 million people living with HIV. Here in the UK more than 100,000 people are estimated to be living with HIV, making it one of the fastest growing serious health conditions in this country.

The partners have pledged £1m each, which will provide grants that focus on improving the quality of life for people living with HIV and AIDS, and funding innovative approaches to increase prevention, care and support, and access to treatment.

Niomi Smart, beauty and lifestyle vlogger, recently visited Body and Soul, a Comic Relief funded project to see first-hand the work being done to support those living with or affected by HIV in the UK.

Niomi said: “I’m so proud to officially announce the amazing new partnership between Comic Relief and MAC AIDS Fund. Hearing first-hand how HIV affects children and young people makes you realise just how important it is to raise awareness about the disease in this country. I can’t wait to see the difference they make in the UK and Africa!”
