Thank you! Red Nose Day draws to a close for another impressive year

The Red Nose Day 2017 presenters

Thanks to all the back-waxers, the fancy-dressers, the cake bakers and the sponsored silencers, the current Red Nose Day 2017 total stands at a jaw-dropping £73,026,234 and Comic Relief couldn’t have done it without the great British public coming together and showing, once again, their incredible generosity over the past few weeks.

This Red Nose Day saw some impressive, brand spanking new and sometimes downright daft endeavours all to raise a smile, raise the laughs and raise life-changing cash.

Sara Cox danced her way through 24 straight hours of 80s classics, Radio 1’s Scott Mills and Chris Stark spent a whole day and night telling jokes, and Reggie Yates, Michaela Coel, Russell Kane, Katy Brand, David Baddiel and Hugh Dennis saw how your money truly changes lives as they travelled from Kenya to Uganda as part of the Red Nose African Convoy.

And that’s not all! The live night of TV dished up some unforgettable moments including Graham Norton’s ludicrously long, super-sized sofa, Ed Sheeran’s show-stopping collaboration with People Just Do Nothing’s Kurupt FM, and the highly anticipated Love Actually sequel, Red Nose Day Actually.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that has helped to raise an incredible amount of money this Red Nose Day for people who really need it most here in the UK and across the world,” says Comic Relief Co-Founder Sir Lenny Henry.

“From the fantastic people across the UK who baked cakes, hosted parties and wore crazy outfits to work and school, to those who took on Red Nose Day challenges and donated, your money is seriously going to change lives. On behalf of everyone at Comic Relief, we cannot thank you enough.”
